Set up Alt text for images in a Collection

"Alt text" is short for alternative text. Alt text is a written description of a picture in an HTML document. It's there to give a text-based option for things like images, especially for people who can't see or use the visual content. Alt text is crucial for web accessibility. It ensures that people with visual disabilities can understand the content of an image when using screen readers or other assistive technologies.

Search engines use alt text to understand the content of images, which can improve the overall visibility and relevance of your web pages in search results.


Set up the Alt-Text field in your Collection

Please follow these steps to set up the Alt text: 

  1. Set up a “Plain text” collection field in your collection with an expressive name like “Alt text main image” or “Alt text Team Member Image” etc
  2. Add the alt text in the respective item(s)
  3. Go to the page where the collection was added
  4. Double-click on the image element, which will open the edit panel on the left side and scroll down to the option “Dynamic content settings”. Here you will find “Get alternative text from” and there you can select the collection field that holds the alt text for that image, in this case, it’s “Alt Text Main Image”
