By editing the contact data in the Customer Portal, you are also editing data that is used in the CMS when a website is first created and thereafter via so-called data bindings. In this article, you'll find out how to use this feature to ensure that the contact data on your website is the same everywhere and can be easily updated from one place.

Changing contact data

Contact data are global information that can be used to add and update relevant contact information on the whole website from one place.

You can access the contact data in the CMS and the Website Manager.

To access the contact data in the CMS click on More in the top navigation and select Data. Here you can add the company name, address, email address, phone number, and custom data.

You can also access the data from the Website Manager by clicking on the "Actions" button or the ellipsis icon:

Or you can open the contact data from the detail view of a website:

Here we differentiate between "Customer data" and "Contact data". While Customer Data can be seen as the contractual data of your client the "Contact data" is the data that is used on the website. In most cases, customer data and contact data are identical so you can use the "Copy customer data" option that you can find between both sections.

Using contact data on the website

Data bindings can easily be used in any text or heading element. All contact fields are available in the data bindings - just select what you want from the list of possible data bindings when you are in edit mode. Click on the user icon.

Once you have inserted a data binding, it will be marked with an orange frame if you are currently editing the corresponding text. This makes it easier and faster for you to see what is normal text and what is a data binding. Data bindings cannot be edited because they represent specific customer information from the customer data.

Email addresses that are inserted via data bindings on a website are automatically linked so that a click on the email address opens the default email software of a website visitor's device. This means you don't have to manually add a link.
